Route 66 is the United State’s historic freeway that was established in 1926, It’s over 2,400 miles, and it goes from Santa Monica, California to Chicago, Illinois. The route was utilized by many who migrated west throughout the 1900s and it was popularized in songs, TV sequence and The Grapes of Wrath. My dad and I went on a full Route 66 highway journey over 14 days in June of 2019 and made this video to share what the route seemed like throughout that point interval and to encourage others to drive this historic highway.

Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Thouroughly enjoyed the journey. If my son and I ever get to do a road trip this is one that would get serious consideration.
Reminded me of locations I've been to and forgotten about, it's been so long, but was disappointed not to hear anything about Elk City, OK. I got stuck there back in 76, over Memorial Weekend with my Dad. Not able to swim at hotel because city was under drought conditions, because water supply was taken out where it crossed a river because of flooding. I was driving when transmission stripped a gear and my Dad woke up and asked me what I had done to the car, would only go into 2nd gear, no higher on the automatic transmission. Spend a 3 day holiday weekend there waiting for the Chevy dealership to open. Interstate 44 wasn't completed yet in a number of locations as well back then.🙂
4:58 they had to add those fences because people kept jumping off it. It's like LA's Golden Gate Bridge.
I have pictures from the 70's visiting Fort Courage! So sad to see its gone.

I was lucky enough to take my family on a road trip along parts of Rte 66 from Tulsa to the Grand Canyon in 2021. we had so much fun. Definitely want to travel the whole way some day.
